Hopefully the following will answer any questions you have. If you have any further questions, please contact us and will be will get back to you as soon as possible.

How soon can I start? Aqua bumps recommends you are at least 16 weeks pregnant before attending any classes.

What do I wear? Initially you will be able to wear normal swimwear. However as your baby grows you may need to purchase or borrow a maternity swimming costume.

I can't swim, can I still participate? Yes definitely. Ensure your instructor is aware you are a non swimmer and ensure you are aware of the areas that are out of your depth.

What conditions prevent me from participating? While most pregnancy related illnesses prevent you from exercising, Aqua yoga is beneficial for those with many medical problems. However, should you have any of the following, you must obtain written agreement from your midwife or GP before being able to participate:

PIH (pregnancy Induced Hypertension) This does not mean slightly raised blood pressure - check with your Midwife if you are unsure.
Pre-Eclampsia
Cardiac Disease
IUGR (Intra uterine Growth Retardation) This does not mean slightly small baby for estimated delivery dates - check with your midwife if you are unsure.

History of 3 or more miscarriages.
History of premature labour.
Placenta Praevia - some women may have a low lying placenta but it does not necessarily mean they may not participate - check with your Midwife.

Unexplained vaginal bleeding.
Extremely under or over-weight
Raised blood pressure prior to pregnancy
Anaemia
Thyroid disease
Diabetes
Multiple pregnancy
Palpitations

Can I still join in if I have pain? This very much depends on what the pain is and the cause of it. You should discuss this with your instructor before you get into the water. Always be prepared for your instructor to not allow you to participate until you have discussed this with your Midwife or GP.
