My name is Sarah Garman and I have two children. I attended aqua
natal classes during my first pregnancy which was a wonderful experience. Not only did I love feeling weightless in the water,
but I felt so good after each class I actually missed it after I had my Daughter! There weren't any post natal classes
available and I was unsure and very cautious about exercising after having a c-section.
During my second pregnancy,
there weren't any aqua natal classes available so I attended land based pregnancy yoga, which although was very beneficial
(and I would recommend pregnancy Yoga to any expectant Mum) , it just wasn't quite the same as having the natural support
of the water.
What I found just as important (and if I'm honest probably more important) was the friends
I made. It was so nice to be able to share my experience with others and not feel alone. Although I was so happy to be
expecting, I did at times feel alone and anxious. To be able to share this with others, relax and not have to worry
about boring them with 'baby talk' was fantastic!!!! When I decided to change my career I knew
I really wanted to work with expectant Mums, new Mums and their babies. Being pregnant and becoming a Mum is such
a special time. To work with and be part of this is something I feel very passionate about, so I decided to qualify
for baby swimming. I obtained my parent & child STA (Swimming Teachers Association) and Birthlight Infant aquatics qualifications,
and then went on to complete the Birthlight pre and post natal Aqua Yoga course.
I have completed part 1 of
the Birthlight Infant Aquatics and Aqua Yoga diploma's and am currently working towards my final qualifications. I have
also passed the nars (national rescue standard) award for swimming teachers and coaches, specialising in infant resuscitation.
I am currently teaching infant aquatics for abc baby classes and am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it!
